Assembly Election Results

The results of the Assembly elections in West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are almost clear.  Prime Minister Modi has congratulated Mamata Banerjee on Trinamool's victory in West Bengal.  Prime Minister Modi tweeted congratulations to Mamata Didi for her victory in Bengal.  The Central Government will continue to provide all possible assistance to the Government of Bengal to fulfill the aspirations of the people and overcome the Corona epidemic.

In Nandigram, which was the focus of the country's attention, there was a fierce battle between Trinamool's  Mamata Banerjee and BJP's Shubhendu Adhikari.  Mamata Banerjee lost the thrilling match.  But after the victory in the state, Mamata Banerjee has given her first reaction.  "I thank everyone for this victory," she said.  I urge everyone not to take out a victory procession.  Go home.  Mamata Banerjee also said that everyone should follow the rules  regarding the coronavirus.

Nationalist Congress Party candidate Thomas K Thomas has won the Kerala Assembly elections from Kuttanad constituency.  In this year's Kerala Assembly elections, the NCP has fielded three candidates out of which two have won.  Incumbent MLA and Transport Minister AK Shashidharan, a special confidante of NCP chief Sharad Pawar, had once again entered the fray from Ilathur Assembly constituency.

For the first time in Assam, a non-Congress government has come to power for the second time in a row.  In Assam, the BJP-led alliance has managed to retain power by fighting the opposition.  The alliance also includes the Assam Gana Parishad and the United People's Party Liberals. The first non-Congress government was formed in Assam in 1978.  Then the Janata Party came to power.  From 2001 to 2006, there was a Congress government in Assam under the leadership of Tarun Gogai.

This was the first assembly election in Tamil Nadu in the absence of M Karunanidhi and Jayalalitha, who have dominated state politics in the last several elections.  Anna DMK could not find any alternative to Jayalalitha.  The DMK relied on Karunanidhi's son MK Stalin.  If Anna DMK had remained in power, the DMK would have split.  But the DMK's success has sealed Stalin's leadership.  Apart from that, there is an opportunity for a third political force to emerge in the state.  The BJP has been making efforts for the last several years.

In Puducherry, out of 30 seats, 14 are led by NR Congress and 14 by BJP.  So, Congress is ahead in 10 and other 5 seats.  In Puducherry, elections were held for 30 seats.

PM Modi said, "I thank my brothers and sisters in West Bengal for blessing our party."  The BJP's strength in Bengal is greater now than in the past.
