At least 20 Jawans killed following deadly encounter between Security forces and Naxals in Chhattisgarh
Sources said that 20 jawans were martyred in a clash between security forces and Naxals in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh yesterday. On Saturday, Naxals launched a surprise attack on security guards. It is learned that 20 security personnel were killed and some others were injured in the clash which lasted for three hours.
A joint anti-Naxal operation was launched by security forces in Bijapur and Sukma districts at 1 pm yesterday. However, in the meantime, the Naxals, who were hiding in the Tarrem-Jonaguda forest area, immediately started firing on the security forces.
The flick lasted 3 hours. However, the security forces suffered heavy losses in the meantime. Yesterday, 5 jawans were martyred, 12 were injured and 21 jawans were reported missing. But now shocking information is coming forward that 20 jawans have been martyred in the encounter while some more are missing. It is learned that the bodies of the jawans are still lying at the spot.
A joint force of Central Reserve Police Force's Cobra Battalion, DRG and STF had launched an anti-Naxal operation in Bijapur and Sukma districts of Chhattisgarh on Friday night. About two thousand jawans joined this anti-Naxal campaign. At around 1 pm on Saturday, Naxals launched a surprise attack on security forces on the Bijapur-Sukma district border. The flicker lasted about three hours.
After getting information about this incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over it and said that the sacrifices of these soldiers will not be in vain. "My condolences are with the families of the soldiers who were martyred in the fight against the Maoists. Their sacrifices will never be forgotten," he said in a message on social media.
